The University of Manitoba Investment Group (UMIG) will be participating in the highly anticipated Annual New York Finance Trip, which will take place in early January. UMIG members selected for this trip will have the opportunity to travel to New York City and learn about the financial industry in the financial capital of the world. The New York Finance Trip is a great opportunity for students, who will visit a wide range of financial institutions and international organizations to learn about what these organizations do and how they influence or participate in the financial system. Some of the companies visited on previous trips include the NYSE, NYMEX, Bloomberg, Goldman Sachs, Raymond James, Macquarie Group, Dreyfus Corporation, Scotia Capital as well as international organizations like the U.N., IMF and the World Bank. The New York Finance Trip is a great learning opportunity for students who want to pursue a career in the financial industry and the knowledge and insights students gain from this trip will provide relevant experience when interviewing with potential employers. Students will also be provided with plenty of time to tour the city and experience the sights and attractions the Big Apple has to offer.
